Every section in this book concentrates on one of ten possible objectives. On the first pages of each section you will find a brief summary of what the objective is and why it is important, and a short section on how to find out if it is suitable for the pupil to whom you want to teach it.
The choice of a suitable objective presupposes that you have a profound understanding of your pupils, which you have of course acquired through assessment, but also through discussions with your pupils and getting to know them as human beings. They will probably be spending hours watching them as they are writing and attending meetings to find out more about their interests and aspirations for their writing.
