Blog to book: A complete guide to writing, working on and publishing your first eBook

It is not enough to just create convincing contents. Or you could do more than just writing a diary. They could schedule a whole range of related contents, rate each contribution highly for its own key words and share them for its own benefit - and then turn all this contents into a work.

To publish a textbook - in this case an eBook - is perhaps the most radical concept in the world. More than 15,000 downloads, more than 10,000 new e-mail subscriptions and more than 100,000 page impressions per July 2014 to more than 100,000 page impressions per July 2015 - and our Kindle and iBookshop titles have generated more than a decade of new readership per days on the average.

There are 10 of the best tips here that we have learnt about how to efficiently type eBooks and self-publish so you can benefit your contents and your audiences organic-growth. Writing a textbook could be done word by word, page by page, until you have enough contents to make it public yourself.

That'?s the usual way to make a script, and it works. However, it is unbelievably difficult to find the necessary research, authoring and editing times and turn it all into a work. It is too much work to produce less tangible results. However, the authoritativeness and the new sales methods that a novel entails make it difficult to exclude.

Every time we have an online weekly diary with new items, many of which are deep enough to serve as a single chapter in a books chapter. We did just that for our first blog-based eBook, The Ultimate Guide to CRM Apps: we collected four lean blogs and turned them into one eBook.

While it wasn't flawless, we had to work on the items thoroughly to turn them into sections of the volume, and we didn't have as much one-of-a-kind contents as we would have liked. Our later publications - especially our recently published nine-chapter The Ultimate Guide to Forms & Surveys - were the meeting point of our four-man sales force, who sketched the contents we would like to see in the work.

The plan was to help us make a better one, one with over a decade and a half of sections that more than 36,000 visitors have been reading in just over a months time. Prior to starting to write, you need to find issues that deserve to be expanded into sections of the books - information that is not only of relevance to your reader, but also helps your staff achieve their sales objectives.

You' ve got your aims and now it appears it' s writing to you. Transforming your books outlines into full sections will take your own amount of valuable resources, which you would otherwise use for your blogs and other contentmarketing work. Using the methodology we have used, first type each section as a Blogpost, put it on your own blogs and then make it a section of your finished work.

It requires a little more paperwork - you type different introduction and reasoning for your blogs than for books, and you may want to do some further processing before converting it into a booksection. For example, a blogs entry may need a link to earlier articles in the introduction, and its inference may prompt the reader to insert feedbacks in the commentaries, none of which are needed in a work.

But, generally, type the same contents once and use it twice. All of the contents are posted in Google Docs (the sharing tools we use), reviewed by two other members of the editorial staff and then posted on our blogs, posted in popular culture and sent to our email newsletters via our email addresse.

Like any other posting, we do our best to advertise each section as it is posted on the blogs - and then we will advertise it again when it's part of a brilliant new work. Ultimate Guide to Forms and Surveys is the outcome of eight blogs (chapters 2-8) and an initial intro (chapter 1).

A little work turns your blogs into a gear in the engine and publishes the items that your teams bring through your design, typing and processing work. Soon, you'll have enough released sections to put together your first eBook. You can do this by opening each page in a different tabs, clicking Print, exporting the page as PDF, and then merging them all - but that's far from perfect.

It would look like an amateur and spoil your chances of making your contents look more professionally in a work. Instead, rework each diligently and make sure that each can be a separate story and put them together in an order that makes perfect sense within a work. Then you can launch a script generating utility and turn your blogs into a beautifully crafted script that looks great on any machine - not just something that looks like a print-out.

You only need your contributions in a markdown style - a basic markdown style, think of HTML, but simpler to use - the pictures in a directory and an application to create your work. Your first job is to convert your blogs into books. Every article should be in its own text in Markdown form, which contains all pictures for your text in a separate album.

If you have all your pictures in an archive directory, for example, you will find them in your directory with ! Picture shortcuts are not the only thing you need to pay attention to; you need to modify any other HTML source text (unless you actually want HTML sample text in your textbook, in which case you should tag it with four blanks or a tabs to print it as HTML code).

Maintain a listing of things you normally find in items, look for them in each section and make sure they are all edit. When you use extended spreadsheets, icons, or other HTML styles where Markdown isn't quite enough, take a screen shot of the item on your website and paste it into your story.

Then you should work on the introductions and inferences of each item to ensure that your contents flow together. The majority of posts contain additional detail to help new users understanding the subject. Postal Conclusion often asks the reader to comment or split the story, which would not make much sense within a work.

Reread your article as a section, and then work through the introduction and the closing of each section into something that would make more sense within a work. Lastly, look for all sorts of references to blog-related words, such as posts, entries and commentaries, along with appeals to act that would make no sense within a work. Transform it into something that will sound more accurate for an eBook.

You can also choose a standardised way to enumerate the article writer if your article has different writers, perhaps at the end of this part. Small pictures from your blogs work well in the eBook, but if your postings contain full-size photographs, you must resize them before you can add them to your album.

Amazon auctions Kindle memory is more laid-back, but they boost around $0. 15 per MB for every eBook sales. There are no free manuals to be downloaded, but you will still want to keep your manual small so that it doesn't take too long for your reader to be able to download it. It is therefore best to resize your pictures before you turn your contents into a work.

While it seems old-fashioned, if an eBook contains an item with a file name like this one. jpg, many eBooks applications and shops will not. The UTM code on the link in your text. If you publish a product to increase your reputation or directly promote your product, you will want to know if your website is actually visited because of your work.

A lot of folks can simply enter a manual linking or think about visiting your website later after they read the textbook, and you can't just follow those snaps. However, you can always guess a shortcut in your eBook copy with a little more work. In order to get visitors from your books in Google analytics or the analysis system of your website, you want to generate a clear UTM or tracing key and attach it to the end of each and every hyperlink in your work.

Here is an example of a UTM coded URL that would uniquely identifiy a user from our forms and survey eBook: When you plan to turn your existing web site into a print version, you need to make quick and easy to read quicklinks with a tool like bitley - something you may have seen in other eBooks, even those from A Buch Apart.

This way your website can be visited without having to enter an extraordinarily long hyperlink, and you will still be able to follow the visitors from the album. It' a good moment to have fun: turn your text into a read. In the past, it was an unbelievably hard task to export a beautifully sized eBook - and it still can be - but there are many simple features that can make it easy.

You can also choose from many different file types to which you can import your books, but here are the 3 that you should definitely create: Its preconfigured "real" e-Books file size, e-Pub file size works in iBooks, Google Play Books, Nook, Sony Readers and other common e-Books readers and applications. e-Pub text fits on any display and although it doesn't look as good as a PDF, it is legible on almost any machine.

Slightly less beloved ePub co-inventory, MOBIs are used by standard on Amazon Kindle applications and gadgets. You must be exporting your work in MOBI file formats to post it to the Kindle Shop. Whilst most eBook exports applications today can create PDF documents and many ePub are supported, there is one utility we especially suggest after trying 8 of the most popular:

Dropbox or GitHub your books and pictures and turn them into ePub, PDF and MOBI documents that work in any eBookshop. It'?s free. When you have your eBook text in single file with your pictures in the same directory, it' s easy to create a Leanpub album.

Creates a new eBook in your GitHub and then links it to your GitHub or Gitbox accounts. Include your books and pictures in their appropriate folder, enumerate your books in the right order. text document, and optimize your Leanpub picture album. Then open your Leanpub page, click on the Previews button in the main window and get a thumbnail of your text.

You will receive PDF, ePub and mobile versions of your textbook in just a few minute. The Leanpub is $99 per eBook you make, and you can share your eBook with other eBook-shops. Leadpublished textbooks are simple - you won't find any unusual PDF layout or a dozen font styles - but their beech export is beautifully designed and works especially in the iBooks and Kindle shops without any additional work.

This is a big benefit as almost every other eBook exporter has made some small bugs that we had to fix before we could post to iBooks. When you want something different, there are a number of other utilities to help you with exporting your books, each with its own unique characteristics and advantages.

With your blogs turned into an eBook, it's a good idea to share your work. Place your books in the Kindle and iBooks shops, and new users will find your contents as they browse these shops for related themes. It' the best way to give your brands a place in the app-driven wireless environment where people are more likely to look for information in an eBook reading application than look it up on Google.

Best of all, you don't need a publishers - all you need is a fistful of on-line bankrolls and enough perseverance to get through the bureaucracy of Apple and Amazon. It' simpler and more difficult than it looks, so consider these points before publishing your first work. So if you only want to have your eBook listed in one eBook shop, make it Amazon's Kindle Shop.

It' s difficult to do without the most favourite shop, one with eBooks on almost any platforms (not to speak of the Kindle devices). Amazon has made it really easy to enumerate your books. In order to get going, go to the Kindle Direct Publishing website, sign in to your Amazon user profile and begin creating a new one.

You will need to type in the name of the title, the descriptions, the name of the writer (or authors) and the category and you can then post your title and artwork. After saving this, on the next page you can select your share of sales and determine the cost of your work. You can receive 70% royalty if you only sell your books at the Kindle Retail Stores; otherwise you will receive about 30% royalty in most stores.

In the case of paying accounts, it's a good idea to consider whether it's best to move your account; free accounts are best placed in as many places as possible. However, you will see another catch - there is no way to enumerate your textbook as a free one. Instead, you must first itemize your textbook with a pricelist.

Remember everything and Amazon will send you an e-mail when your eBook is added to the Kindle Shop. However, if your eBook consists of blogs, Amazon will first notify you by e-mail that they found the contents of your eBook on-line and ask you to verify the copyrights. Once this is done, your eBook should be in the Kindle Retail Store 2-3 working hours after the first upload.

And if you want it to be free of charge, you have another challenge ahead of you. First go to the next stage and get your books on iBooks, where it's simple to publish a free one. Then let your supporters and your teammates click on the button "Tell us about a lower price" in your Kindle-Listing and let us know your free of charge Booklink.

Alternatively, you can mail Amazon directly from the Kindle Direct Publishing website, and the prices will usually be the same as your eBook within one business hour. There you can post a short biography, set a hyperlink to your blogs and Twitter accounts and impersonate yourself as the writer for each of the books you post. This is a great way to make the listings of your books look more binding and bring more visitors to your own pages.

The iBooks Store is a great way to easily get your work on iPads and iPhones - and it's simple to listing free work. All iBooks does is that iBooks is very choosy with the ePub content you are uploading, enough that I spend half a days working on our ePub ledgers to load up our first ledgers.

When you use Leanpub or iBooks Author to create your own books, you can almost be sure that your books will work on the first try; Pandoc is almost as good, and current Ulysses and Scrivener releases should work, but your odometer reading may differ. And if you don't have a Mac, you'll need to use an eBook aggregation tool such as Smashwords or BookBaby to download from your computer - or ask for someone you know on a Mac.

In iTunes Producer, type the information about your song and pull your artwork and screen shots from the inside of your song (we use 2048 x 1496px pictures; this is the biggest file that iBooks allows). Within a few moments you should receive an email confirming that your copy has been posted, and within a single business hour your copy will be online at the iBooks Shop.

Uploading will not work if your text contains pictures bigger than 4 megapixel, as already stated, so you should resize your pictures. Flush and replay until you have your copy up. They can be extracted by hand or simply dug into your Calibre system, find the offensive document, modify the incorrect source text and exported to try again.

When you want to publish your free copy, you're all done, because Apple includes new free copies by standard. However, if you'd rather be selling your eBook, you'll need to sign back in to iTunes Connect. There you can modify the availablility of your eBook, modify fundamental meta data about the eBook and determine the pricing.

However, if you ever need to upgrade your books, you will need to resubmit the changes via iTunes Producer. Conventional eBook shops are by no means the only place to showcase your work. If you want as many readers as possible to see your books - whether it's a paying title or a pencil for your website - so be sure to include your books wherever readers are looking for new materials.

When you have created your eBooks with Leanpub or Lulu, it is only logical to have your books in their shops. So if your readership is more likely to use the Kobo Eboook or Barnes & Noble's Nook, please enumerate your books in their shop. As soon as you have your ePub and eMobi format eBooks, you have everything you need to get your books listing everywhere.

Simply copy the descriptive text you've already used in the Kindle Shop, create your own artwork from your covers as needed, and load up your text as many places as possible. We have bundled our products in a paddle and added them to the new Publi eBook market place, where you can find various packages, websites and shops that make good business and business sense. 2.

There' s declining revenue in too many places when your books are listed because Kindle and iBooks already have so much control of the store, but especially if you're just getting started, you might as well try to see which places are best suited for your work. After that, especially if you register your free copy, make sure you have an on-line copy of your ledgest.

One could simply keep the first postings on top, perhaps with an "index" posting that connects them all, but an on-line eBook, which is formated in chapter with a page for the index, is much more beautiful. It will be an easiest way to split your eBook, and you can also include your eBook-downloads there for another sales methodology.

An easiest way is to have a page where you can fill out a page and get your text. And Gumroad is a great way to do that - you can post, give away or resell your books and collect e-mail from anyone who is downloading your work. Simply register for our free online diary and we will give you our free iBook.

If you are looking for a new house for your textbook, the more challenging one is to buy it now. We' re using an optimized copy of our Django-based blogs for our titles, while other WordPress layouts only use them for titles. Or, you use a "book CMS" like Pollen, which is an open code resource to make your text look like a web-enabled textook.

Include in your copy and eBook down-load link, and you have a new sharing page when someone ask for information on the subject. However, if you do this, there is one very important thing to note: you have already posted the contents on your blogs, and Google doesn't like double-editing.

So before you release the new on-line textbook, make sure that each section uses the same permanent links (or sucgs, as some CMS link to them) as your initial post. Then, forward the initial entries as sections in your textbook to your new place of residence. Moz has a great routing guidebook that' s great to look at to make sure your message is forwarded correctly.

Verify and make sure that every genuine blogs entry in your books CMS is forwarded to its new home - that's how important it is. It will keep your Google rankings for your initial contents while ensuring that all new users see the reformatted work. You' ve made it: you've designed high-quality blogs, turned them into a real eBook and posted them in the world's most loved eBook shops - and maybe even printed it.

And then, in the morning, it's timeto work on the same work. Meanwhile, you're sick of seeing the same article over and over again, and the topic, which seemed like such a good original concept for a blogseries, now seems tedious and insipid. You have to work for them to see your work.

Have them know that they are included in your textbook, thank them for their help and ask them nicely to do so. Or you could ask new readers for quotations about your books to advertise them with notes. The Intercom staff contributed to promoting the Intercom on Product Management with a whole page of experts' support.

"It has been very helpful for us in the commercialization of the product to obtain the approval of third parties even before publication," says John Collins, executive journalist at Intercom. Divide the eBook on your community network, post entries about your typing processes and submit it to your mailinglists. They can even post new entries that summarise some of the best advice from your books and publish them as featured articles in related weblogs.

You may even find free packages and promotional offers to contain your textbook - a free article to download is always interesting. Now that Longform websites are books, they may be more interested in your contents, and free eBook websites may help you advertise them where you would rarely have been interested in your post.

Do the best you can and you will find that your contents go further than you ever anticipated. To write a textbook just to advertise your application or your services could seem like the most far-fetched thing you can do. But it can really work, and it's not too difficult these days with a little scheduling and a little more hands-on experience to make your blogs really glamor.

But the first one we had so many issues that there seemed to be more difficulties than it was profitable to buy our titles in the iBooks and Kindle Sites. By following the instructions in this paper, you should be able to publish your text without much effort.

However, if you have any past issues with eBooks, we would be happy to discuss them in the following commentaries. Otherwise, we would like to know about your success with eBook advertising and how it has been helping you to drive your eBook advertising forward. Hail to the ledger!
