Writing Instruction Videos
Prizewinning nursery school nurse, alphabetization trainer and country moderator Julie Lay has extended the initial Kid Writing Workshop by Eileen Feldgus. Watch Julie skilfully interweaving phonetics and "heart words" into a strong, comprehensive writing workshop style with deliberate and fun writing workshop tutorial. This video documents the beginning of Julie's trip as a nursery school nurse.
Note how it builds key writing skill into the writing experience and establishes a seamless link between writing and reading in each unit. Lucy Calkins and Katie Wood Ray's pioneer work is appreciated for their impact on early, genuine writing class. In the next brief section Julie shows how she can help kids draw up a scheme for their illustrations and writing - and expand their minds with what, why, where and when.
She assists every kid to formulate entire thoughts by helping them to identify a theme and expand it. Note how Julie sets up the child's "kid writing" - deliberately extending the child's words, accentuating the sound while maintaining the words integrity, a practise called "moving target". As" children's author" the children need a meticulous framework of adults and undersection.
Throughout the year, the kids move towards the stand-alone writing phase, in which they can actually literally write without an grown-up having to sign. It is an astonishing and thrilling trip in the nursery school. Julie Lay deliberately emphasizes the strength of each letter, which is shown on the basis of the state' and district' alphabetization objectives, in this brief meeting with two different nursery school authors.
The Kid Writing Website did this. As part of this two-and-a-half-hour nursery school programme, Julie Lay works successfully with another diverse group of four to five kids per night for fifteen to twenty mins, while the other kids rotate through alphabetisation centres. They praise efforts, strategy and the readiness to try something new.
Celebrating what every "children's author" can do, Julie takes them to the next stage of performance! So we filmed these brief demonstrations after class so that Julie could show many different ways of doing things in a while. Julie Lay's Writing to-Read in kindergarten will complement this:
