How to Write a Precis

Writing a Precis

Carefully read the original piece. Enter the most important points and arguments. Look at the evidence used by the author. Search for unknown material (definitions, statements, unknown words, data, etc.) Identify the appeals used by the author.

Assess how the author conveyed the meaning.

This is a préci. This is the defining

Precis, from Old French and means verbatim "abbreviated" (dictionary.com), is a brief abstract of an essay or other work. Precis then declares the principal point, the logic of the work and its structural framework, but in a highly concentrated state. Precis is objectively, as opposed to a rigorous assessment that assesses the case and the use of proof within an item.

Please have a look at the articles or other text. Look at the types of proofs the writer uses. Please write a synopsis of one or two sentences for each section or sub-section of the item. Please review the item to see if it matches your review. Start with your dissertation paraphrases and your one or two summarizing comments.

Check your precis to verify that you have clarified the key point of the paper, identify the supportive proofs that the author uses, and have used the same logic as the text. In general, each bodily heel should clarify a specific section of the text and should give the proof (albeit in a highly concise form) that the author has used to assist this section.

Conclusions should reaffirm the key message of the text and reaffirm its principal endorsement.
