Not only did I do this because so many of you wrote to me asking for advice on how to compose novels, but because you no longer have to depend on us untrustworthy, slow-writing, weakerprofessionals. Here are my top ten hints for the novel writer (Note: These are only MY hints.

I' m not saying that these hints work for ALL of them. It' s just things that have worked for me as a novelist and reader): Find out what your ledger is about. The same goes for a work. It is important that you know how your work will end and have a general understanding of how you will come to that end - before you do.

Find out how long your novel will last. Mystery and science fiction stories are usually about 70,0000-90,000 words. From the typeface you use, of course, but generally, with Times New Roman 12 point (remember writers reading a LOT. Therefore, a 55,000 dictionary should contain about 200 pages of manuscripts.

About 400 words would make a 100,000-word volume. Where to use the authoring software? But Wordperfect is also very kind. Are you able to handwrite your novel? You can' give a handwritten novel to a publishers. Depends on how long your work will be and what kind of work it is (for consistency's sake, I' ll think you're going to make a romantic, because if there's no romantic in a work, what's the point?

Keep in mind that the vast majority of us want to get the hottie already. There' must be some hurdles in the way for your character and your character to get together immediately, otherwise your readership won't be forced to spend the next 50,000 words or so reading to find out what's happening.

In a romantic story, think about what interests the readers most: will these two humans ever find a way to make their relationships work? The other storylines are subordinate to the romantic if you want your story to be a comedy. All I want my sections to be no longer than 10 pages, with one sequence per section.

You can have as long or as briefly a section as you want, with as many sequences in each as you want. Mm-hmm. But just keep in mind, readers are having busy lifestyles, and at some point they need to put your product down to go to the food shop store. ├┐This is a good idea. It' d be great if you had a couple of new chapters so you could just do that.

A number of writers create a sketch of what will be happening in each section before they set down to finish the work. Whilst I think it's important if you want to compose a script to know where you're going (and how you're going to get there), this kind of conspiracy of detail almost exactly eliminates the pleasure of it for me, so I don't do it.

Lots of folks are writing to me and leaving: "I want to be a novelist, but I can't find the moment to take a seat and do it. That' s the distinction between someone who wants to type and someone who wants to type. It is the one who finds and becomes a novelist.

During my schooldays I didn't do a lot of work because I had too many homework/hopefuls for a good living. There' s no disgrace in having to wait until you have more paper. And I know that there are some public authors who are still in their youth, and that's great for them.

However, one thing you should NOT do is say to a writer: "I don't know how you find the writing age. "Because, in essence, that means the author is a huge looser without mates. When you' ve taken the liberty of sitting down and completing your novel, you're 100% ahead of mostfolk out there.
