How to Pitch a Book IdeaBuilding a book idea
Where can I suggest a book idea to a publishing house?
You have to have an public of someone who loves you and is just about to buy it before you start writing a book. To find the public is the first stage in the development of a "platform", as the publishers call it. A consequent way to stay in contact with this public, and to chew them at the top for the next thing you have to give them, is the core of your deck.
Let's say you do everything you can to create your public, and you have a stage. You' ll either have to get an agency or you will have to file your idea directly with the publishing houses. Suggested book - see below. An inquiry note - you should write it first, but you should have the suggestion first.
Inquiry letters are the official way to ask an agents or editors if they want to check your suggestion. They always sent a request for information to an operative. There are many knitwear, crocheting and handicraft publishing houses that have accepted suggestions without first getting a request for quotation, and they have on their website rules for submitting them that tell you how to do it.
The majority of these specialized publishing houses do not ask you to be represented by an agents. So, what's in a book suggestion? That' your pitch, extended to a few heels at most. When can you describe your book (or project)? What is your idea (a book, an e-book, a movie, an on-line course, etc.) and when can you realize it?
Are you going to publish everything at once or in stages (as we did for the Dreaming of Shetland projects, which took over a year to publish in its entirety)? Overviews of projects: Categorie and competition: But if not, you should take a close look, especially if you plan to contact publishing houses.
You want to categorize your book and you are optimistic that it will be a success, so you won't want to say: "There is nothing comparable." If you publish samples, tales, novels or a book, you want to insert them into the rest of the book or project universe, so you need to create a listing of other novels or other similar works that in one way or another would be classified as the same one.
By the writer: Her biography, with a clear emphasis on why you are the right people to be the writer of this book or the creators of this work. Again, you need this to throw to a publisher, but you will also use this on your website, about the authors page in a book and other places in your sponsorship and marketing.
Add the intro, a sample and (optionally) another section for a knit book. It will help you to determine the book's stylistic and voices. This may be in a different order if it makes more sense to you, but these positions should all be contained in a full proposition.
My strong recommendation is to create a paper that is essentially a book suggestion for any major projects you are working on, even if you intend to make it public yourself. It will help you to get an overview of what your projects are and how they should come together. While you work on it, you will morph and change your projects.
It is very rare for a single product to get completely out of one's mind. You have a general idea most of the times and you need to travel around the site to determine how best to plan the information for your reader.
