Best Free Text Processing 2018

Good text processing is one of the few programs you just can't survive without. Fortunately, you don't have to sign up for a full Microsoft Office account; there are some great text processing programs that you can get and use for free. We' re looking at the best text processing programs that can be used off-line (especially useful for distraction-free writing), but there are also some great browser-based utilities that you should consider if you prefer to write on-line.

And if you want an off-line wordprocessor, continue reading - the ideal one is just a click away. When you have used a state-of-the-art Microsoft Office Free, there is no learner graph when you go to Writer - the WPS Office Free text editing part. It looks and acts almost like its top-of-the-line analog and even has its own one-drive equivalents, providing 1GB of free cloudspace.

It' interoperates with any text document formats imaginable, even with the latest and older Office 97 Microsoft Word releases. The WPS Office Writer is powered by discreet displays that can be easily eliminated by an upgrade to the top-of-the-line release, but are hardly perceptible and no functions are blocked behind a payment wall.

Overall, WPS Writer is very impressing and in our view the best free text editor available for downloading. Recently, WPS also released a free PDF to Wordprocessor, which is an excellent addition to its text editor. The LibreOffice is a forks from Apache OpenOffice, and although there are some discrepancies between the two sets (for example, LibreOffice is updated more frequently and has a livelier user base), their text editing features are so similar that we list them together.

All of Writer are Microsoft Word feature-packed analogues, packaged with all the functionality you might need for any text-based work. Both Writer editions contain assistants and layouts for popular kinds of documents, such as bills and mail, and it is simple to build your own layouts for later use.

Wordprocessors also work with the other suite applications in your suite - for example, you can use Base to build a citation. The two text processing programs work with all common data types and can be used to save your document in PDF format without any extra work. When you are looking for a text editor that can step in for Microsoft World, each of these two versions is a great one.

FocussWriter also provides warnings that are issued at specific intervals or when a pre-defined number of words is achieved, so you don't have to think about monitoring a meter (as in Microsoft Word). The TextMaker text editor - the text editing part of SoftMaker FreeOffice - looks good and comes with several practical models for the creation of correspondence and other common documentation.

And all the functionality you'd want from a state-of-the-art text editor is there and it' s accurate, with enhanced editing capabilities, the option to build bibliography and footnote management bases, and a track changes to shared work. The functionality is restricted to the SoftMaker Office premier edition, which is available for £48.20 (about US$60, AU$75).

The WriteMonkey is another straightforward text editor that helps you maximise your outputs without worrying about processing and formating.
