Do I miss something? What are the BOOK templates for

Every author's genre is different, so it's not astonishing that there are so few "conserved" templates for book work? And when you view a book in a bookstore, you only see the size that the "publisher" has chosen - who knows the size of the book when the author provides it to the publishers.

So if you think you have the impulse, try creating your own templates and, if you are willing to exchange them with others. What is your satisfaction with this answer? Thank you for your comments, it will help us to make the site better. What is your satisfaction with this answer?

If you took the Word formatting book model from Moby Dick and put in Huck's text, do you think this book would be completely different now and no one would ever even be reading it? Is it important how the Don Quixote publishing house has reformatted it and therefore it is a classical one?

For Dummies and how many web pages did Miguel de Cervantes have to study to find out how to use his pen? So how many miguels are out there today, cheered on Word, found no templates, tried to find something about reformatting, said, forgot that and determined it wasn't warrant?

Reading the book Robinson Crusoe on a Kindle, is everything missing because it does not correspond to the author's initial view of how it should be reformatted? Correct -- the lay-out, the size, REALLY doesn't care. Seriously.... just ONE good book draft would do for most? all? classics.

Like the others have said, Word will certainly help you in writing the book; it is up to the editor to interpret whether this is a classic main-line or one of the many on-line print-on-demand grant publishing houses.

To be your own editor, you need to know how to use Word to do the tasks a editor does, one of which is designing and composing. When you are just beginning to compose a book, you need to create a script, not a book.

When the book is ready and processing is completed, the kind of layouts you describe are used. This kind of reformatting can only get in the way while you are in the write-proces. "Word will certainly help you to compose the book; it is up to the publishers to interpret it..... "Maybe in the old times, but you can make a livelihood doing your own research AND publish your own work.

Yes, that means to create a website, to market, to take orders, to print, to bind and to send the book. Is here an example of a bloke doing it, he's a little over-top and laughably opinionated, but I' ve found his properties that invest ledgers to be extremely useful... http://www.johntreed.com/HTWPkeys. html "....Every kind of author is different, so it's not amazing that there is such a shortage of'preserved' templates for typing ledgers........

"If you have the drive, try to make your own templates and, if you want to, try sharing them with others. So I bought the 15th edition (!) of a word processor program from a multi-trillion US corporation that has made bajillion bucks out of this stuff, and seriously - how much would it take them to employ a contractors to lash a doze?

You paid someone to create about a doze of" Friend and Lover Cards" templates. Do you use a word editor for word editing a book? And, really, the notion that an writer must make a book to be printed at all is most likely to go the way of 8-track, tape, buying audio on CD and soon purchasing films and DVD or BluRay.

Perhaps if Bill Gates makes another $50,000,000,000,000,000 then he might want someone to want to spend a few thousand bucks to make some book templates. I' m totally appalled that it's no biggie for you all that Word has no book templates. At the very least I can do is to change to Open Office, I can't see any actual value in Word.................

When you look at the templates on Office Online, you will find that most of them are provided by third-persons. They probably make templates available for which they are aware of the need.

The creation of a long draft is much more complicated and must be adapted for a particular operator. I' ve seen the results of a Word beginner trying to use a Ph. D. thesis submission from his postgraduate university. Under my supervision, the pupil took the pattern apart and put it back together again.

It could just as well have begun from zero, but it gave him a thorough grasp of how Word works. When it doesn't work correctly, it won't be sufficient for converting to any e-book or POD formats. When it was correctly built with fonts, modify the stylistic definition (both fonts and heel formats ) and add a few filler tips here and there to make the book look newer.

So, I got Word 2007. So I figured I would be able to open it, select from one of the many pre-installed book templates and work on the work.

When I go to New, there is no book pattern under Templates, under Installed Templates! A-levels.... that seems encouraging. A model for a kitschy looking "yearbook page". Anything else is ridiculous or kitschy, except under the heading "Other books" there is a book manuscript - but I don't need it, I don't hand it over to a publishers, I am the one.

Next thing I could find was "A5 book template", which is not only not the right sized but also not very good and was posted by some members of the group. I also found a place where you can look under Word for templates for books, and again you get your script and a pile of kitschy "schoolbook reports" or "family story books", etc...

There' probably billions of folks who buy Word so they can make a book. You are NOT interested in the many great functions of Word, you want to WRIT. Not only that, but probably 80% of any bookshop could be covered by about 10 templates -- monochrome, funtional but appealing typefaces, a few starting pages, TOC, headers with book names on the lefthand pages, names of chapters on the right-hand pages, footers with page numbers on the lefthand and right-hand pages, and maybe about 10-15 styles.

This, I promise, would fit the formats of almost all fiction, science fiction and classical works, self-help textbooks and probably many others. Do 10 such templates and then bookwriter could only choose one, and focusing on the content, which I am fairly sure is the most important part of any book!

Will I have to become an authority on Word to compose a book? Have I chosen the incorrect word processing? When your system cannot spelt easy words, then when you have happened to use it to type a book, then you are sentenced to many intricacies.
