Realist dialogues that are well-penned can drive a storyline and create character while at the same pausing from pure-exposure. However, it is not easy for everyone to write real dialogues, and few things draw a readership out of a storyline more quickly than poor dialogues. Developing a good listening for dialog can take a while, but following some easy guidelines and preventing some apparent traps can make a big deal of sense.
