Children's Dutton Books
Dutton Children's Books is one of the oldest, continuously working children's books publishing houses in the United States and has been in existence for over 160 years with the aim of producing high-quality books that appeal and carry young people. In 1852 Edward Payson Dutton opened the door of his Boston bookstore and soon afterwards began publishing "fresh and entertaining" books for young people.
INNGENuity has always been coined by Dutton's publisher, and in January 2011, Dutton entered a medium sized store and YA Impressum, which now releases 10-15 hard-cover magazines per year. Extraordinary works of literature with a distinct storytelling voice and a powerful business attraction are at the core of the Dutton-Liste. Abundant in story, Dutton is dedicated to the next wave of Excellency with a small and curatorial listing that never looses track of the people.
It is our goal to develop writers for their career and to establish long-term relations with our readership. We have a listing of classical columns of children's books such as A.A. Milne and Ernest H. Shepard's Winnie the Pooh books, Newbery medallist The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin and My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George, and works by Paul O. Zelinsky.
Following the traditions of literary distinction and unmistakable voices, Dutton's latest listing encompasses writers such as John Green, Adam Gidwitz, E.K. Johnston, Stephanie Perkins, Ally Condie, Tahereh Mafi, Nina LaCour, and Ransom Riggs, to name but a few. Dutton Children's Books is president and editor of Julie Strauss-Gabel. Prior to Dutton in 2002, she worked at Hyperion Books for Children and Clarion Books.
Julie's wishful thinking is ecclectic, but combined in her quest for top class typing, extraordinary vocals, amazing craftsmanship and real ambitious. Awards for her books included the Printz Medal, Printz Honor, Newbery Honor, Edgar Award, Boston Globe-Horn Book, Award and Sydney Taylor Book Award.
Her work has included Ally Condie, Adam Gidwitz, John Green, John Grisham, Nina LaCour, Tahereh Mafi, Stephanie Perkins, Ransom Riggs, Carrie Ryan, Andrew Smith, Aaron Starmer, Lauren Wolk and Meg Wolitzer. Andréw Karre est rédacteur en chef de Dutton Books for Young Readers. He had the prerogative to work on works by renowned writers such as E. K. Johnston, A.S. King, Ashley Hope Pérez, Vaunda Micheaux Nelson and Maggie Stiefvater.
