It begins with a great intro to Three Reasons I Should Not Have Having These Book, two myths/semi-truths about whether you can learn to write, and one of them is the faith that studying about the writer suffocates you. He also gives various useful and feasible ways of studying a textbook about the subject of literature.

There are interesting parts of the book: This is both part of Ritter's writing talents and part of his messages to authors that the small and subtle detail corresponds to the bigger texture and the blurred notions of vocals, styles, structure as well as personality. It is a very small section of the volume, many not more than one page, which contains a small number of words - sometimes almost hidden.

Much of the value of the volume lies in Knight's uncommon capability to capture more than one element of the authoring experience at a time.
