Nine good reason why I chose to use Scrivener to create my non-fiction titles.
I' ve recently written an article about the choice of Scrivener as a blogsource. But I decided to use Scrivener as a writing instrument for non-fiction books. I would like to clarify why, especially since much of the information about this programme is about using it to write fiction. I toyed with the notion of using Scrivener as a writing instrument.
So I bought the software, used it a little and put it away. Recently I had the chance to participate in three conferences held by Gwen Hernandez, the writer of Scrivener For Dummies. Then I saw a seminar with Joseph Michael, the Scrivener coach and founder of Learn Scrivener Fast.
I am now selling with Scrivener for blogs, postings and writing textbooks. From Gwen's lessons to the Scrivener coach's script and programme, I could see the advantages of Scrivener when writing music. In Scrivener I immediately abandoned my biggest projects and started working with him, and I suggested the programme to several of my customers and customers who wrote non-fiction literature.
These are 9 clear benefits for using Scrivener to create non-fiction work. Designed to help authors organise their writing, Scrivener is an efficient way to do so. Plus, if you are willing to put all the small parts together, Scrivener will "compile" them into a Word file, a PDF or an e-mail for you.
I' m a great supporter of the design of your work. Many non-fiction authors just begin with a list of topics. Scrivener allows you to generate this directory in the "Folder". So you can make a detailled index, which I recommend to all authors. On the basis of this detailled list of content you can then compose your summarized chapters and insert them as a synchronisation into the "Inspector" feature.
After all, I like working with mindmaps or everything, but especially when I' m working on a directory. First, I broinstorm my non-fiction theme this way, and then I organise the information into a directory. That gives me a detailled index. With Scrivener you can export your mindmap as a PDF in the "Research" section of the application.
This can be done with almost any mindmapping application by saving as PDF. I' ve done it with my favourite Sound Force programme Freemind, which is free. You don't call is a mindmapping software, but it really is so. They can also upload and place in the research area link to blogs or other website url.
That' quite practical for a non-fictionist. It is not unusual to find at any point in writing a non-fiction that you need to move around clusters of ýcontent. Once you have divided your sections into subcategories and stored each of them as a seperate section, it becomes really easy to move them up or down by just moving them up or down in the folder (your index).
Or you can simply divide your assets by adding new parts and then moving assets instead of copy and paste them. When you blog a textbook, I hope you have all your contributions posted in Microsoft Office and not WordPress or any other text editor. Once you have done this, you can simply export the post you want to use - or all your postings - into Scrivener.
Allows you to export single contributions to Scrivener. As soon as your contributions are in Scrivener, the programme searches and finds contributions to any desired subject. So if you are planning to post a blogs (existing articles that have not been posted with the intent of writing a book), you can make a table of contents for your books, and then you can browse those available articles for those that meet your needs.
Items can be segmented by theme or keyword. I' ve never tried the compiling feature on Scrivener, but when I saw Gwen go through the whole game and showed the final and Joseph demonstrated it too, I was sure it would be easy to create an e-book with this writing utility.
Scrivener seems to be an effective and simple way to order manuscripts. The Scrivener will save it for you the whole game. Scrivener eliminates the need to look for the place where you stop writing or writing. It will always open your file where you quit.
This function is essential for those non-fiction authors who want or need to know the length of each section or their entire work!
