The prize, organised by the Bologna Children's Book Fair in collaboration with the AIE - Associazione Italiana Editori (Association of Italian Publishers), recognises those publishers who have distinguished themselves over the past year through their creative character, courage and editorial quality.
The aim of the prize is to improve the editorial project, professional competence and intellectual quality of the work of publishers all over the world and at the same time to promote mutual knowledge and exchange between different countries and different cultures of the world. The award ceremony, which takes place at the official opening of the fair, is decided by the same publishers participating in the Bologna Children's Book Fair on the basis of a series of nominations resulting from the reports of the exhibitors themselves, the publishers' associations around the world and the institutions promoting books and reading.
