Guidelines for book reviews

Kindly notice that a book review is not a book review. Books are almost completely described and usually contain little more than an extended index. Book review, on the other side, is a critique of the content of a book on the basis of the reviewer's intimacy with the topic covered in the book.

Professionals' responses are presented in the most important anthropological periodicals and it is recommended that learners should review their books professionally before reviewing them. Professionally written book review gives the learner an impression of how varied a book review can be. How well you rate it will determine your performance.

It' advisable to choose a book and read it early in the semester. A number of academics may request that some research be done to prepare an appropriate book review. This means that the learner should use extra sessions to broaden his or her own understanding of the topic of the book to be tested and to include or point out any appropriate content, analytical or theory material from these sessions (and sessions, if applicable).

Make sure the bookshop has the material you need to help you get a well-informed review. The non-availability of resources is not an adequate justification for a poorly prepared review. First and foremost, your work should be an example of your research and your work, not that of others. As a rule, a good book review contains the following:

1 ) A short explanation that explains to the readers what the book is about. 2 ) An explanation that indicates the nature of the learning that the book is and the nature of the public it best serves. 4 ) The expert's own particular objection to any of the procedures presented by the writer, if any, and any inaccuracies.

5 ) Commentaries on the author's interpretation, similar or different from others, and any other interpretation that the critic must propose. 6 ) A summarizing message that gives an overall impression of the book. 7 ) A list of resources that may have been consultations in written form (see above).

These are the criterions for the evaluation of the evaluations by your class teacher in the order of their importance: 1) proof of the initial thought; 2) proof of a clear comprehension of the topic under consideration; 3) thorough research; 5) grammar and orthography.
